CHICAGO, April 9, 2024 – Pinch, a Chicago-based startup that enables Nurse Practitioners to provide clients with in-home medical spa treatments, today announced a $3.5 million seed funding round to accelerate expansion. Starting Line led the funding round with participation from Ludlow Ventures, Lightbank, The 81 Collection, Permanent Capital and multiple angel investors from Chicago’s startup founder community.
Dr. Jacob Avraham and former SpotHero executive Elan Mosbacher launched Pinch to empower healthcare professionals to become entrepreneurs, starting with mobile medical spa services in Illinois where board certified nurse practitioners with aesthetics training can treat clients in the comfort of their own homes.
For Nurse Practitioners, Pinch offers an ideal career path at a time when many are suffering from pandemic-related burnout, seeking flexible work opportunities, and demanding extra income. The company operates as a fully managed marketplace, enabling qualified Nurse Practitioners everything they need to offer mobile medical spa services.
For clients, Pinch offers a comfortable, convenient, and safe in-home medical spa experience for fair and upfront prices. The ‘house call’ model accommodates clients’ busy schedules as well as the increasing shift toward home-based activities such as telehealth sessions, to-your-door food delivery, and remote work. Clients can select from a growing list of treatments including Tox, Filler, Chemical Peels, and IV Therapy. Clients can arrange a private appointment at home, host a group Pinch Party with friends, or join pop-ups with local wellness brands.
Pinch Providers have treated clients in over 250 zip codes in Illinois. The seed funding will support the growing list of experienced Nurse Practitioners who want to join Pinch, further development of the company’s marketplace technology, and expansion of treatment options for clients.
“The most fulfilling part of running this business has been the incredible feedback from Nurse Practitioners and clients about how life changing Pinch has been for them and their families,” said Elan Mosbacher, Co-Founder and CEO of Pinch. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to offer better opportunities for healthcare professionals, work alongside a childhood schoolmate as my co-founder, and have financial backing from investors who’ve followed my career long before we launched this business.”
“Starting Line is excited to have led a highly oversubscribed seed round of funding backing Pinch’s founders,” said Haley Zollo, partner at Starting Line. “Pinch has the ingredients to become Chicago’s next big breakout marketplace as they lean into the trend of millennial nesting. They have a talented team, raving fans, and a growing market, with an opportunity to create better experiences for healthcare professionals and clients nationwide.”
