What to Expect:

  • The first two days your skin will look a little tan, bronzed, or pink. It may also feel a bit tight.
  • As a general rule, treat it like a sunburn: avoid sun exposure, avoid sweating and avoid heat.
  • During the peeling phase you must avoid sun exposure. Even after the peeling has subsided your skin will be sensitive to UV light. Protect your investment and reapply sunscreen when outdoors.
  • If any products in the post peel kit sting or irritate beyond your tolerance reach out to your Pinch Provider for options to use instead.
  • The amount of peeling you’ll experience varies greatly. You’ll peel as much as your skin needs to.
  • Each morning apply the Post Peel Protectant and SPF 50+ Sunscreen and apply as needed throughout the day. Continue use for the 7-Day peeling process.

Towelette's

  • Function: The towelettes included in your post peel kit provide additional stimulation of the skin and expedite the peeling process.
  • Use: First towelette should be used 4 hours after your peel has been applied. Subsequent towelettes will be applied at intervals designated in your aftercare booklet. All towelettes should be spaced a minimum of 4 hours apart and all towelettes should be used in the first 48 hours.
  • Side effects: Towelettes are not refreshing towelettes. There are active ingredients in these towelettes and therefore you may note some light stinging upon application. Some people can also experience some itching, especially on night 1 which can be remedied by applying post peel protectant, hydrocortisone cream, or taking oral antihistamine.

Peeling

  • Safe products to use during peeling: VI Derm Cleanser, Post Peel Protectant, SPF 50+ (From your home you can also use a gentle cleanser, Aquaphor, and sunscreen).
  • Days 3, 4 and 5 are the typical days of peeling. By day 6 most exfoliation has subsided.
  • Typically, peeling begins on the 3rd day, starting in the peri-oral area then peeling outward. The forehead and neck will be the last areas to peel.
  • The skin on the body peels slower than the face; usually starting day 4-7 and taking up to 10+ days.
  • Cleanse your face prior to showering and keeping your face protected from hot water.
  • When cleansing your face use your fingertips only. Avoid using washcloths or facial machine brushes during the first week.
  • Avoid pulling, picking, rubbing and any premature removal of skin. This could lead to significant irritation and possible hyperpigmentation. Never force or peel the skin off in sheets.
  • When peeling make sure to keep your body hydrated and your skin moisturized.
  • The Post Peel Protectant may cause slight sensitivity when first applied but it quickly subsides.
  • If you are excessively dry or irritated when peeling, add a light layer of Aquaphor as a barrier.

Immediate Post-Treatment Care

Immediately following your VI Peel treatment, take the following steps to ensure a smooth and comfortable recovery:

  1. Cleanse with VI Derm Gentle Purifying Cleanser: Using your fingertips only, cleanse your skin with VI Derm Gentle Purifying Cleanser provided in your take-home kit.
  2. Rinse and Pat Dry: Rinse with cool water and pat dry gently. Avoid hot water for the next 7 days to prevent irritation.
  3. Apply the 1st Towelette: Apply the first towelette over the entire treated surface of the skin, avoiding eyelids and lips. Problem areas may be applied with firm pressure.
  4. Do Not Cleanse Again: Do not cleanse the skin after applying the towelette. Wash your hands thoroughly after application.
  5. Apply Makeup: Makeup can be worn after treatment. Use VI Derm Post-Treatment Repair Cream as a moisturizer before applying makeup. Avoid using other personal hydrating products.
  6. Important for Medium to Dark Skin Tones: If you have medium to dark skin (e.g., Fitzpatrick Skin Types 4, 5, and 6), apply VI Derm Post-Treatment Repair Cream approximately 10 minutes after the towelette has been fully absorbed to reduce inflammation.

Day 1 and 2: Continued Care

On the first and second days following your VI Peel treatment, continue your aftercare routine:

  1. Cleanse Again: Using fingertips, cleanse the skin with VI Derm Gentle Purifying Cleanser.
  2. Apply the 2nd Towelette: Apply the second towelette provided in the take-home kit. Wash your hands after application.
  3. Wait Between Applications: Ensure a minimum of 4 hours between each towelette application.
  4. Important for Medium to Dark Skin Tones: If you have medium to dark skin, apply VI Derm Post-Treatment Repair Cream approximately 10 minutes after the towelette has been fully absorbed.

Night 1 and Day 2: Post-Treatment Care

On the first night and morning after your VI Peel treatment, follow these additional steps:

  1. Night 1: Apply the third towelette 1 hour before bedtime.
  2. Day 2: In the morning, cleanse the skin with VI Derm Gentle Purifying Cleanser and apply the third towelette.
  3. Important for Medium to Dark Skin Tones: Apply VI Derm Post-Treatment Repair Cream approximately 10 minutes after towelette application.

Continued Care and Long-Term Maintenance

In the days following your VI Peel treatment, continue to care for your skin with these steps:

  1. Avoid Peeling: Once the skin starts peeling, do not pick or peel at your skin to prevent irritation, scarring, or pigmentation issues.
  2. Cleanse and Moisturize: Cleanse with VI Derm Gentle Purifying Cleanser as needed. Use VI Derm Post-Treatment Repair Cream and VI Derm SPF 50 Daily UV Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen as needed.
  3. Return to Normal Routine: Once the peeling process is complete, return to your normal skincare routine.
  4. Take an After-Photo: Capture your radiant, rejuvenated skin with an after-photo to showcase your results.
  5. Feedback: Let your provider know how you feel about the results and any concerns you may have during the recovery process.

Glowing and Next Steps

  • Resuming Skin Care Products
    • Non-Actives: Resume once peeling has subsided, usually day 6-7.
    • Actives: Resume once peeling has subsided and sensitivity has returned to normal (~day 7-10).
  • Physical Activity / Exercise
    • Refrain for 72-96 hours after peel application. Perspiration can lead to PIH or blistering.
    • This is in part due to the salicylic acid and the reason other treatments shouldn’t be performed.
  • Scheduling the Next VI Peel
    • VI Peels should be scheduled every 4-6 weeks (for best results).
  • Additional Skincare Treatments
    • It is recommended to wait a minimum of 2 weeks before any treatment that creates exfoliation of the skin (Includes facials, extractions, waxing, and threading).
    • Consult with your Pinch Provider for other treatment options.

By following these comprehensive aftercare instructions, you can nurture your skin post-VI Peel treatment and maximize the efficacy of your results. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact Pinch Provider for personalized guidance and support.
